Digital artists and paypal discussion.

Digital artists - Important issue on Paypal:

So, due to recent changes with Paypal which "does not protect digital artists", I think I will be contact Paypal via phone later this week to clarify things. Unfortunately, I really depend on Paypal so I most likely won't be changing companies for handling my finances with my art - there's not many options out there that I'm willing to trust.

I have a Paypal business account so I am unsure if this issue would effect me, but it seems to have really concerned a lot of "regular" paypal users.

I have not experienced a bad issue with Paypal besides the freezing of my account in the past due to customers selecting sending money as gifts versus paying for a good/service. I hope I don't run into this charge back issue and lose protection.

I also wanted to mention that #1, people sending payments for art should be sending them via payment for goods/services and that the artist themselves needs to pay for the paypal fee. Another way around this is to increase your commission rates to cover this fee.

Friendly fraud seems to be very difficult to "resolve" with paypal, but usually the amount a person is given is simply reversed to the original paypal account holder.

* I use paypal invoices now and have a business account so I am unsure if these apply to me but I wanted to provide others with what is going on.

Please note that this journal and others are to create discussion not raise havoc and anger in the community. Let's be civil when providing information and talking. I don't see why people have to fight all the time.
