So journals- you can write what you want in them right?
Well, I'm really sick of cyber bullying around here. If you haven't seen it around deviantART, you're lucky because it breaks my heart. It's so ridiculous. I've seen a lot of it around the anime/manga community lately.
I am not going to name any users here.
But seriously. You guys need to stop. I'm sure you know who I am trying to direct if you've seen it around. Anyway--
Dear cyber bullies,
It's
NOT right to send notes to people saying:
-Go die because they're heavily influenced by someone's art
-They're worthless
-You want a commission, give them references, etc, then when the artist notes you back, telling them their art is shit
It's
NOT right to:
-write hate comments on someone's page
-make a new account several times after being blocked just to harass someone again
-harass the commissioners and adoptable buyers of other artists
-attack someone on multiple websites because you don't think one is enough
What makes you think you can go around saying this stuff? You're not better than anyone else.
It hurts me to see this going around. Cyber bullying is horrible, in the past I was called an art thief (even though I showed WIPs) and those few comments by that one deviant hurt my feelings pretty bad. I blocked them because they were just being a troll but eh, it still sucked. I haven't dealt with too many actual trolls myself, most of them are trying really hard to be my friend and I ignore them when they're rude; however, there's some people that deal with actual troll accounts all the time.
Imagine getting tons of hate mail every day in your mail box? You think you'll like that sort of attention? No! It can push people down the wrong path and really bring them down in spirit.
Art is a form of self expression. The way you draw can be heavily influenced by other artists or famous mangakas- and if it is, you should simply admit it when asked about inspiration. It's as simple as that. As the "original" artist or mangaka, there's a line which you need to draw (for heavy referencing, style "copying", etc), but you need to be mature about it. Sending your watchers and followers over to the artist who is heavily influenced by you to "attack" them is very childish. It reminds me of children in a playground ganging up on one individual. You can easily lose a lot of respect you've gained from the public this way and people will always remember what you did. Now sure, you might say, "Well I don't care what people think".. Well, I'd like to laugh at that because obviously you do. You're sending
your supporters to attack someone, you submit your art online so people can view and give you feedback-- otherwise, you'd just draw for yourself at home and never upload.
People, in general, care what others think.
Most of like to share our art, but not when it brings bad attention with every single upload who would want to keep sharing?
Please stop it. There's more to someone than just their art. Don't forget the other side of the computer that they're on. Someone's sitting there that has to take in all the shit and try to bare with it.
Please, please, stop attacking others. Noting someone without an intention to truly hurt them is fine- it really is, but bashing them, telling them they should die, or sending others over for bullying instead of dealing with the situation directly yourself - is not.
Now, I know cyber bullying will never go away. Bullying in general will always exist because we are humans, we grow jealous and become defensive and say horrible things, but we can at least take a chill pill and ease up on it around here.
Remember, stuff on the internet can go viral in minutes. Same goes for dArama on deviantART.
Please reconsider what you're doing before hitting that send or submit button.
There's a difference between talking things out maturely and bullying.Thank you for your time.

My friend was cyberbullied and I felt terrible for her. It makes me wonder how many others are going through the same thing, right? Thousands, maybe millions! Society needs to shape up.
I think anyone who bullies someone (online or in real life) wants to make themselves feel better about theirself. I think it's terrible what people have gone through, all the way to suicide attempts. This journal should be shared, it's well-written and sends out a great message
i had a problem before with some people, but it cleared out quick
but after that there were still haters and mean people
since i am not used to online bullying i got really sad and stuff
and since i have had depression for a few months now, it took an impact on me :/
i got help from my friends, so i'm still here, but i almost left the site because of it
i just hope not to see any more of this, even tho there's lots of it around
thank you for making this journal.
